Warning Description: Wind Advisory
Warning Date: 2:56 PM CST on March 10, 2010
WarningSum:...Wind Advisory In Effect Until 6 Pm Cst This Evening...
Warning Message:...High Wind Warning is cancelled...
The National Weather Service in San Angelo has issued a Wind
Advisory...which is in effect until 6 PM CST this evening. The
High Wind Warning has been cancelled.
Winds have decreased somewhat along and north of Interstate 20...
therefore the High Wind Warning has been cancelled. Winds will
remain in advisory criteria.
West winds will continue between 25 and 35 mph through early
evening...with gusts to around 45 mph. Winds should subside
fairly quickly by early evening.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of 30 to 39 mph and/or
wind gusts of 45 mph or greater are expected. Winds this strong
can make driving difficult...especially for high profile
vehicles. Use extra caution.
Warning Description: Fire Weather Warning
Warning Date: 12:00 PM CST on March 10, 2010
WarningSum:...Red Flag Warning Remains In Effect Until 6 Pm Cst This
Evening...
Warning Message:A red flag warning remains in effect until 6 PM CST this evening.
A strong upper level system is moving across the Texas Panhandle
today. As this system passes...the pressure gradient will tighten
at the surface. This will cause west winds to increase to 20 to 30
mph with gusts around 45 mph across west central Texas. At the
same time...relative humidity values will drop to less than 20
percent. These factors...as well as high fire danger rating...will
result in critical fire weather conditions across the area on
Wednesday.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Area residents are strongly advised to avoid activities that may
produce outdoor flames or Sparks of any kind...and properly
dispose of lit cigarettes. Accidental ignitions will have the
potential to grow very rapidly into dangerous...wind-driven
wildfires.
A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now...or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures will
create explosive fire growth potential.
